A Little About Micca (ya know, a bit more than just the agencies and campaign's he's worked on)

Above are some of the things that I've worked on, and loved. But more broadly, I love this business. Not just free.studio of course, but the business of solving problems, creating clarity, simplifying complex nonsense and then presenting the beauty of that hard work, to the world.

It's easy to minimise the value of what we do, or be apologetic for it. But when we get our business right, we can - and should - bring joy, reward, fun, good humour and some hard-earned success. That's what we're here for now.

I've run multi-agency operations for clients for 15 years, which has afforded me a unique set of experiences. My job has routinely been to help build brilliant singularly-focused teams out of separate agencies and skillsets. This has enabled me to think less about what's in it for 'the agency' and more about how to solve the real problem, most effectively.

Doing that without fear or favour typically builds real bonds and brilliant teams. Teams who are galvanised around common goals that deliver far more effective results for clients. This last bit sounds pretty standard in our industry, but - as cheeky as this sounds - effectiveness awards don't follow everyone around (insert smiley face here).

John Lewis, Volkswagen Global & UK, Royal Navy & Marines, Deutsche Telekom, adam&eveDDB, WCRS. They're all big effectiveness winners that I'm proud to have helped helm to those successes. And we only won, by doing things others weren't. By being authentic, and by going beyond the odd bit of film (as nice as those films were).

Cheeky addition... the Deutsche Telekom effectiveness award mentioned above, was for work done 'auf Deutsche, (in German) , which I didn't even speak properly! Now that's success. And only because there was real teamwork!

What got me here?

20 years of travel, life-experience and a renewed and refocused passion around what should be obvious - I like making things that matter to people. Things that matter to real people, who might engage with what we make.

Things that matter to the people that make them.

Things that started as a thought alone, but became something real through the power of shared goals and teamwork.

Things that can be seen, heard, touched, smelled, tasted, or hell, just have people feel something for.

I like making things that real people care about, with people I care about.

Simple, huh? Well, it should be.

Keep things simple. Even if it is hard work. It's worth it.

Then work can be as effective as this stuff...
